The Womensphere Global Videofest is a global movement and celebration to empower the next generation of women to use video to share creative solutions to humanity's greatest challenges and express women's vision on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

On September 25, 2015 at the United Nations General Assembly, world leaders agreed on working towards achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals, for the next 15 years, intended to tackle global grand challenges: end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.

At Womensphere, we are dedicated to helping achieve Global Goal #5 on Gender Equality, as well as empowering women and girls to become active participants and leaders in shaping the vision and creating solutions to help achieve the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.  To these ends, we created the Womensphere Global Videofest.

Women and girls from all majors, who are currently enrolled in university, college, community college, vocational/technical school, International Baccalaurate Diploma program, or secondary school/middle school/high school around the world, are invited to join the Womensphere Global Videofest, in teams of 2 to 5 participants per team. Each team must represent the same academic institution.

Participants will have the period of August 30 - September 23, 2019 to create and submit entries based on the Themes and Challenges of the Womensphere Global Videofest (which will be announced on August 30) focused on one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals, including any additional Womensphere Challenges.

Each team can submit only one entry. All submissions and entries must be authenticated by the academic institution that the participants represent, as part of the submission process.

The Top 50-100 entries and teams will be announced in December 2019.  Global Award Ceremonies will take place in New York City on March 2020 at a parallel event during the United Nations Commission of the Status of Women (CSW) global summit.

We will also be creating media and social media to feature the Top 100 teams and entries of the Womensphere Global Videofest, to showcase exceptional work in video that help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
